Firstly, I would like to thank God for revealing so many things through a simple 'Boy Meets Girl' book. It really shows us how we overstate and boast over romance and that 'we-should-be-able-to-handle-it' thinking. It's a very good book. Do read it. Thanks Regina, for lending me the book.
So many things can happen in a draw of a flash. I look around me, failed relationships here and there. False hopes, alloyed promises, failed expectations, etc. Even some I must admit, I have first-hand experience. LOL. Now, as I put together all the pieces of an unsolved mystery unto the question that asks, "Why did I failed in my past relationships?"
It was simple, I took charge and control, putting God aside. How foolish can that be when a creation tells the creator to back-off. "Hey God, I know this is for me. So let me do it." How can we (the creation) tell our creator that we know OURSELVES better than He does?
I used to tell Freda, "Hey, you're not being realistic." But now, as i pondered and contemplate, I concur that having a relationship in plans of reaching courtship and attaining engagement/marriage is the absolute quaintessence! I believe for our generation tainted with worldly ambitions and purposes, it's hard to say, "Oh. I know this is Godly and Holy, so I'll do His bidding and be obedient." Instead, we will debate, "Yeah, it's rightful but it's okay for me to side-track a little. Anyway, who doesnt sin?"
My words to every young-to-be-concerned reader of this post to understand this well : Friendship is the plot of land that you purchase to build your relationship with your future partner. Make sure the land is flat so that the house is being built on a FIRM foundation. (Matthew 7:24, 25) . Next to proceed on with the steel skeleton structures, which is faithfully named TRUST. What simple term yet an agonizing side to struggle whenever situations approach. Once a trustworthy friendship is bridged, the bricks can start to pile their place. Bricks a.k.a. courtship is where you savour every step of laying brick after brick. Mind you, courtship doesnt mean you show 100% intimacy or risk falling into sexual sins that are undesirable. It takes a while for the bricks to be layered after layer.
Still, it's far from marriage. From what I've gathered so far, that's what I could offer. Hope this helps/encourages/motivates someone, somewhere, somehow.
